Charity, mis-applied, can be just another name for free money. Welfare recipients rarely, rarely appreciate getting something for nothing. If anything, the free stuff can start desperate people on the path of craftiness.
So, what is the Real Issue? It would be sincerely getting clear on the concept that poverty is based on ignorance and ill-education. People can begin to be helped by the sincere goal of gradually educating willing people 'up' the ladder to health wealth and happiness. Then perhaps they would realize they are their own Captain.
